A Water and Sanitation project in Nepal included:
A gender diagnosis in the preparation phase that was developed through a social mapping of the different community groups and through separate consultations of women and men;
Quotas were reserved for women as members of the A&S Committees;
Awareness activities to promote behavior change and good hygiene practices with specific services for women;
Action plan to determine effective participation of women in the design and management of water services;
Provision of literacy courses and better access to credits for women's economic initiatives.
