The initial proposal of the Liaoning Medium Cities Transport project in China presented by the counterpart provided for the construction of multi-lane ring roads. Successively it was carried out:
- A survey on travel and transportation employers of the affected population differentiating the demands of women and men. The analysis of the differentiated demands made it possible to detect that, especially women, they turned out to be the ones that used bicycles or pedestrians the most and that women prioritized the issue of safety in their travels, lamenting the lack of lighting, the low quality in the design of the Underground passages, long waiting times at bus stops and poor safety of crosswalks. These represented barriers to their mobility.
- The project included these demands when designing the services.
